Banana Bar Crawl takes over the Tuscaloosa Strip
University of Alabama students dress up as bananas in viral bar crawl.
Students traded in their usual Friday night outfits for something a little more yellow during the Banana Bar Crawl.
The themed event brought students to the Strip for a night filled with music, drinks and, of course, plenty of bananas. Students showed up with friends and fully embraced the theme with banana costumes and banana accessories as they made their way from bar to bar.
For junior finance and real estate major Itzel Moctez, the crawl was a chance to experience the event for the first time with friends.
“It was my first time at the Banana Crawl, so it was cool to have my friends out with me and experience the fun,” Moctez said. “Hopefully we have more of these events.”
The crawl gave students the opportunity to visit different bars along the Strip while enjoying the costumes and meeting other students. Groups of friends could be seen taking pictures together, dancing and making their way to the next stop throughout the night.
Hanna Meyers, a senior engineering major, also enjoyed the atmosphere and the number of students who participated in the event.
“I would say it was fun with the costumes and going to every bar on the Strip, and that so many people also participated,” Meyers said.
However, the experience came with a few concerns about the price. Hanna said the $30 cost was a little too much, showing that while the event offered students a fun night out, the price was something worth considering.
Despite the cost, the Banana Bar Crawl gave students another way to experience the fun nightlife with friends. The banana theme added a playful twist to a typical night on the Strip, making the event stand apart from an ordinary Friday night.
Between the costumes, crowds and music, the crawl brought students together for an evening of fun and memorable moments. For students, the hope is that more events like this will give another opportunity to get out and enjoy a fun time with friends.
